Psychological Disorders: Diagnoses and Treatment
Description: This training will outline the common diagnoses (ADHD, Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, ASD, DMDD, etc.) in youths including symptoms, criteria to diagnose, co-occurring diagnoses, and treatment and strategies to help diagnosed children. The trainer will briefly discuss medications that are usually prescribed for the disorders.

Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE's)
Description: This training will review what ACE’s are and how they came to be, how ACE’s and trauma affect health including short-term and long-term effects, and how to counteract and build resiliency. The trainer will also provide many resources for the purpose of building resiliency and for trauma-informed care. This training will be two parts, and a longer discussion on resiliency will take place in its own training.

Resiliency After Trauma
Description: As this training will be a sequel to the ACE’s training, the trainer will briefly review trauma and ACE’s. The training will define what resiliency is, what impacts resiliency, and how it is built. The trainer will outline various strategies for promoting resiliency in children and working with children exposed to violence and provide many resources for building resiliency and for trauma-informed care.

Description: This training will outline the typical stages of development. This includes the different types of development, milestones, and different theories of development such as Erickson and Piaget. The trainer will discuss how trauma affects a child’s development as well as outline how the development will impact parenting strategies.

Description: Explore different cultures and how they vary from each other, including specific traits for the cultures as well as the six dimensions of culture. This training should enhance our understanding of culture and how to work with youth and families from different cultures, as the children’s cultures are a significant part of their identify and history.

Taking Care of Yourself: Compassion Fatigue
Description: In this training, compassion fatigue will be described, and the common symptoms will be identified for personal use. Multiple resources for self-care will be provided for attendees to use individually after self-reflection.

Description: This training will cover the broad span of the culture and cycle of poverty, including the types of poverty, the characteristics and hidden rules of poverty, and the effect that poverty has on children. The barriers to moving out of poverty will also be discussed and what is needed to help break through these barriers.

Description: This training will briefly discuss depression and self-harming, but the focus will be on suicidal ideation and the proactive/preventative steps to take for a youth with a history of the behavior, particularly creating a safety plan and working with the treatment team, as well as Apex’s policies when a youth discloses that they are feeling suicidal.
